Takeru Segawa Vows Redemption Against Rodtang at ONE Samurai 1: "I Cannot Quit Without Revenge"

Takeru "Natural Born Krusher" Segawa suffered a career-defining, humiliating defeat in just eighty seconds, a loss that has fueled his intense training ever since.

The former three-division K-1 Champion is set for his last professional fight on Wednesday, April 29, at ONE Samurai 1 in Tokyo's Ariake Arena. While the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title is at stake, his true objective is the highly anticipated rematch with Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

Their initial encounter at ONE 172 in March 2025 at Saitama Super Arena concluded abruptly. Rodtang cornered Takeru against the ropes, securing a decisive knockout with a left hook at 1 minute and 20 seconds. The swift, brutal finish stunned the audience. This uncharacteristic quick defeat left a profound impact on Takeru, setting the stage for his return on April 29.

Takeru stated, "After my loss to Rodtang, I realized I had to defeat him before retiring. Losing in the first round was unprecedented for me; I had never been defeated that quickly."

"He inflicted a level of humiliation I hadn't experienced before," Takeru added. "I believe I cannot conclude my fighting career without avenging that loss against such an opponent."

The 34-year-old fighter regained his momentum and confidence at ONE 173 in November, triumphing over Denis Puric with a second-round stoppage at Ariake Arena. This victory not only earned him a US$50,000 performance bonus but also secured the coveted rematch.

Takeru joined ONE Championship with a singular focus: Rodtang. Every subsequent event, including his loss to Superlek, his subsequent recovery, and the knockout win against Puric, has been a pivotal part of his journey back to confront Rodtang.

This time, Takeru enters the fight free from injuries, believing he is in peak physical condition, and fully aware of the high stakes involved.

He revealed, "Last time, I wasn't in my best condition due to injuries. I wanted one more fight against him as my final match, ensuring I'm in optimal shape."
