Brandon Moreno to Face Charles Johnson, Who Knocked Out Joshua Van, at UFC 335
Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno is set to compete at the final major UFC event of 2026. He will face Charles Johnson, the only fighter to have knocked out the current flyweight champion Joshua Van during Van's UFC tenure.
Joshua Van recently defended his flyweight title against Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 331 with a unanimous decision victory. While Van prepares for a potential bout with Manel Kape, other top contenders are vying for position. Brandon Moreno, who secured a win against Joseph Morales earlier this year, aims to re-enter the title contention picture following recent setbacks.
Moreno's upcoming opponent, Charles Johnson, is on a comeback trail. He recently submitted Eduardo Henrique at UFC 330, following a submission loss to Asu Almabayev. Johnson handed Joshua Van his first career knockout defeat in July 2024 at UFC Denver, a significant accomplishment against an previously undefeated Van.
Moreno's path has included losses to Tatsuro Taira and Lone’er Kavanagh before his win over Morales. A victory against Johnson at UFC 335 could place Moreno back in contention for a title shot. The UFC is expected to announce the full card for UFC 335 in Las Vegas in the coming weeks. Reports suggest former two-division champion Alex Pereira might also appear on the UFC 335 card.
