Justin Cariss, Justus Cheatom Aim to Rise at AOW 46
Art of War Cage Fighting is set to launch its first of six events for the year on Saturday, March 28th, with AOW 46: Turnbull vs. Yapsam. Hosted at the Valley Forge, PA Casino, the event series, led by Mike Bickings and his team, has consistently delivered high-quality fights and is expected to continue this trend. The main event will feature Turnbull defending his AOW featherweight championship against Canadian contender Ryan Yapsam.
In the co-main event, defending bantamweight champion Juwan Gonzales (4-1) of Marquez MMA will face Justin Cariss. Cariss, who boasts a 3-1 record, secured his last victory via ankle lock on February 28th and has a wrestling background dating back to age three. This bout is anticipated to be a highlight, featuring two fighters with promising careers. Cariss trains under Nick Cottone of American MMA and Wrestling and Jeff Cressman from Power Half Wrestling Academy/Cressman MMA. Cressman, known for his expertise developed at the Daddis Fight Camp, is recognized as an excellent striking coach.
A featured middleweight bout will see the undefeated Justus “the Ruckus” Cheatom (2-0) take on the more experienced Nick Stephenson (2-1). Stephenson trains with the Daukaus brothers, Chris and Kyle, at The Forge MMA. Cheatom, 22, is a dedicated athlete, committed to all aspects of his training, including weightlifting, resulting in a physically imposing presence. While physical prowess doesn't always guarantee success in the cage, Cheatom has translated it effectively thus far. His coach, Jeff Cressman, holds high expectations for Cheatom's future in the sport.
