Harry Hardwick Faces Career Crossroads: Reflects on Debut & Prepares for Crucial UFC Vegas Bout

Harry Hardwick's UFC debut in September 2025 at UFC Paris proved memorable, though not for the reasons he might have hoped, as he suffered a first-round stoppage loss to the impressive Kaue Fernandes.

Following his performance, Hardwick faced a barrage of criticism and online trolling, with some viewers even labeling his showing as one of the poorest in UFC history.

The scrutiny extended to UFC veteran Cub Swanson, who openly questioned Hardwick's capabilities after witnessing the fight in Paris.

Hardwick's Resilience

Despite the widespread backlash, Hardwick maintains that the criticism hasn't affected him. In a recent interview, he candidly discussed his difficult debut night in Paris and looked ahead to his highly anticipated bout against Marwan Rahiki on March 14th.

Reflecting on his initial UFC outing, Hardwick acknowledged the increased pressure leading into this next challenge. He stated, "I was confident and believed I would win my UFC debut, but it was an unusual situation, taking that fight on just a week's notice. For this upcoming fight, however, I've had a fantastic training camp!"

He added a stark perspective on his career, "This is a cutthroat business; if I don't perform, I could be getting cut. But I'm accustomed to pressure. I've handled it extensively in the past, headlining shows and competing in Cage Warriors title fights; for me, pressure is normal."

His opponent, Marwan Rahiki, enters the octagon with an undefeated 7-0 record. Hardwick spoke highly of Rahiki, noting, "I believe Rahiki is a fantastic opponent. He always comes to fight, and his aggression, though sometimes bordering on unnecessary, is both his greatest strength and his greatest weakness."

Hardwick has identified vulnerabilities in Rahiki's fighting style and has developed a precise game plan for Saturday. He explained, "Without revealing too much, I believe his past opponents were either too cautious or got too entangled in his pace. I'm confident I can exploit his weaknesses. I possess the discipline to maintain the right strategic approach throughout the fight."

In stark contrast to his debut, where he had under five days to prepare, Hardwick has benefited from a comprehensive training camp this time, making the most of the extended preparation period.

Three weeks before the fight, Harry traveled to Las Vegas alongside his brother George Hardwick, a former Cage Warriors lightweight champion, and fellow Cage Warriors featherweight contender Leon Armes.

While in Vegas, the trio has been training at the esteemed UFC Performance Institute and collaborating with North East England native, UFC fighter Davey Grant, at Syndicate MMA.

Hardwick praised Grant and the training experience, remarking, "Davey has been excellent; he's really taken care of us, and it's been a fantastic experience. This camp has felt significantly less chaotic."

He added, "Everything is falling into place, and it just feels right. I was reflecting recently on being in Vegas; I've been here for five times the duration I had to prepare for my last fight."

As the pressure mounts, many eyes will be on Hardwick's fight this Saturday, eager to see if he can silence his critics and secure his inaugural UFC win.
