Luis de la Fuente Confirms Real Madrid & Arsenal Talents Choose Spain

Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente has officially announced that Real Madrid's promising talent, Thiago Pitarch, has pledged his international future to Spain. While the young midfielder also holds eligibility for Morocco, and the Atlas Lions have actively pursued him, Pitarch has seemingly opted to represent La Roja.

Pitarch has made a significant impression at Real Madrid recently, having started their last five consecutive matches. Although there was speculation about the 18-year-old potentially joining the senior national squad, he has instead received a call-up to the U19 team. Pitarch is no stranger to the U19 setup, having been previously called up in February and September, where he made three appearances.

De la Fuente Affirms Pitarch's Commitment to Spain

While instances of players, such as Brahim Diaz and Munir El Haddadi, switching their international allegiance to Morocco even after representing Spain at a senior level exist, de la Fuente conveyed his strong belief to Diario AS that Pitarch is committed to playing for Spain.

“This situation mirrors Mosquera’s,” de la Fuente stated. “The excellent news is that Thiago desires to play for Spain; he is deeply committed to our national team, and that, much like with other players, brings us immense joy. We completely respect any individual who chooses a different path and prefers to represent another nation, wishing them every success. However, I am personally very delighted that Thiago has made the choice to don our jersey.”

Mosquera Secures First Senior Call-Up

Another player now integrated into the senior squad is Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera. Formerly with Valencia, Mosquera has been a consistent presence in Spain's U21 teams for several years. Despite his dual nationality making him eligible for Colombia, who had shown interest in securing him, he is currently vying for a place in Spain's World Cup squad.

De la Fuente commented on Mosquera: “Mosquera is another significant player who has embraced our project. He is enjoying an exceptional season with Arsenal, and his adaptability is crucial, given his ability to perform effectively as both a center-back and a full-back. The defensive situation doesn't concern me; he offers us tremendous flexibility, possesses great speed, maintains constant focus, and carries the valuable experience of progressing through the youth systems. One could hardly ask for a more impressive debut.”
