Barcelona Unlikely to Sign €40m Winger Due to Real Madrid Presence

The Catalan giants are keen to integrate a younger talent into their squad, complementing Raphinha, with Jan Virgili emerging as a prominent name in their considerations.

Beyond Virgili, Barcelona's scouting efforts extend to several promising young wingers. Among these, as reported by MD, is Osasuna's Victor Munoz. The 22-year-old has been a standout performer for El Sadar since his move from Real Madrid last summer, recently earning his inaugural call-up to the Spain national team on the back of an impressive six goals and five assists for Los Rojillos.

While Barcelona holds numerous favorable assessments of Munoz's potential, they acknowledge the significant hurdles in securing a transfer this summer. Osasuna is firm on only sanctioning a sale if his substantial €40 million release clause is activated. Even if the Catalans were to contemplate such a significant outlay, a move could be effectively blocked by Real Madrid's pre-existing rights.

Real Madrid Retains Buy-Back Option for Munoz

Osasuna's sporting director, Braulio Vazquez, recently confirmed that Real Madrid possesses a multi-year buy-back clause for Victor Munoz. This clause is reportedly set at a figure considerably lower than his current release clause. Should Barcelona attempt to acquire the player, it is highly probable that Los Blancos would activate this option, thereby facilitating his return to the Santiago Bernabéu, especially given their own reported admiration for his progress in Pamplona.

Consequently, Barcelona faces a formidable challenge in their bid to sign Munoz this summer, despite his potential to be a valuable asset to Hansi Flick's team. Real Madrid would undoubtedly be unwilling to see a talent from their renowned La Fábrica academy fall into the hands of their bitter rivals, losing all control over his future trajectory.
