Atletico Madrid's esteemed forward, Antoine Griezmann, has declared his commitment to remain with the club until at least the end of the current season. Despite his impressive recent form, the veteran player had been swayed by a compelling offer from Major League Soccer (MLS).

It has long been expected that Griezmann would eventually move to the United States in the twilight of his career, and Orlando City had made a determined effort to sign him. They pushed for a transfer before the MLS deadline on March 26th, rather than waiting until the summer. This accelerated timeline could have represented millions in earnings for Griezmann if he had chosen to depart earlier in the year.

Orlando City is reportedly now in discussions with Griezmann regarding a potential free transfer in the summer, but Griezmann has clearly stated he will not be making any mid-season move.

Griezmann Reiterates Commitment to Atletico Madrid

Following Atletico Madrid's dominant 5-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, Griezmann finally addressed the speculation, delivering the news that all Colchonero fans eagerly awaited.

"I am very happy here, I'm truly enjoying myself. What I do on the pitch speaks for itself. We'll see, but the plan is to go all the way to the end, and then everyone else can talk," he told Movistar+, as quoted by MD.

Regarding the Copa del Rey final, he remarked, "That is my dream, my goal, and hopefully we can achieve something great." Atletico secured their place in the final against Barcelona during Griezmann's decision-making period.

Griezmann on Spurs Match: 'We Capitalized on Their Mistakes'

A significant talking point from the match was Tottenham's series of errors in the early stages, including two slips by goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and a mistake by Mick van de Ven, which directly led to Atletico's first three goals.

"We played very well; we capitalized on some mistakes from them or the pitch itself, but we are used to it. We need to improve on what we did in Barcelona so we don’t repeat it," he stated, referring to their 3-0 loss to Barcelona in the second leg of their Copa semi-final.

He added, "We aimed to put a lot of pressure on them, and that's precisely what we did. Their mistakes stemmed from the pressure we applied."

Atletico is scheduled to host Getafe at the Metropolitano this weekend, before traveling to the Tottenham Stadium next Wednesday for the return leg against Spurs.
